It's a little late but happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] losing_ideas and [livejournal.com profile] sparkleferret!! Well, late for one, on time in some parts of the world for the other! WOO! Many happy returns, dudes!

Also, I got to have lunch with Rachel yesterday. Well, Monday. That was awesome! I needed someone to pick me up from work and she was kind enough to do so and we had lunch together. HAPPY. I've missed her. It was a good day! And then I finished my last shift of 6 in a row today. SO HAPPY. Don't have to go back til Friday now. *happy sigh*

So yeah, short entry, but made of yay!
So, I've been wanting this for months, right? Someone to skate to Feeling Good (the Buble version started it, but didn't care who's, really). This week on Dancing on Ice? TORVILL AND DEAN DID IT! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! So, so happy right now. *cries*

It... it's kind of a sexy song, you know? I never thought they would... SO HAPPY. Omg.

*SQUEE!*

Oh no.

Jan. 14th, 2008 06:23 pm
We went skating today! I... fell over twice and now my ass is kinda sore again. And yes, I know how that sounds, shut up. I think I'm getting better! I hope I'm getting better. I don't want to have wasted all this money and time... But yeah, starting to go a bit faster! And that's about it, BUT STILL. We went last Thursday, too. That was pretty bad, though, because we hadn't been since before Christmas. But yeah! Hopefully, getting there.

Heh, Dancing on Ice started today. It's... SO AWESOME. I don't know if I should have been laughing, but I was. I'm sorry, but there was TABLE DANCING. ON THE JUDGE'S TABLE. XD SO FUNNY. Who'd have thought back in 84, eh? Sweet, little innocent kids... Yeah, right. I'm just... so happy right now.

But yeah, aside from that, I've been working. Woooo. And pondering what to do about school next year. Doing a language at TAFE is too much of a pain in the ass because I don't want to be getting the train home from the city at 8:00 at night. Mum and Dad got robbed on a train 30 years ago like that. Like it's gotten safer since then. Yeah, sure. But! There's somewhere a lot closer where I can go and learn so hurrah! And since I haven't taken any kind of language regularly since year 8... it's probably a good idea to start small.

At least, I don't think I fell as hard as I did the first time we went. Progress?

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I just remembered. Last week, when we hung around for the public session, there was this huge slut there. I mean, big whore. Even Drew noticed and it takes a lot for him to notice. But heh, divine justice when she was showing off near me... and fell on her ass. Thank you, higher power.
So, my brother got a Wii for Christmas and I spent like an hour playing Wii Sports yesterday... my arms are kind of killing me now. That is not so much with the fun. Seriously. Also? My Wii Fitness age is 63. How bad is that? But the problem is, I have really bad hand eye co-ordination so I suck at the baseball section. I'm terrible at that in real life. Let alone with a fake ball on a screen. I like tennis and bowling better anyway.

Of course, then I cleaned upstairs... and my legs hurt too! Oh God, I'm out of shape. Damn it, I better go walking before next week. FINALLY get to go skating again. SO happy about that. And hopefully, Dad won't stick around. As much as he likes watching us, I don't like him there. He's really annoying. And keeps pushing us to do things we're not ready for. LIKE LET GO OF THE BARRIER. ASS. Whatever. Most of the time, it's okay... but he's been on holidays since just before Christmas. He's driving us nuts.

So yeah. Warm up before you play video games now. Otherwise, ow.

So!

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Or Bah Humbug! if you'd prefer. I had a perfectly pleasant Christmas. No major arguments, only saw part of the family and spread over two days. Thank God for small miracles.

The haul this year included:
*The Essential Paul Simon cd
*Best of Chris Isaak cd
*Wizard of Oz 3 disc collectors edition
*Dancing on Ice tour DVD
*Dancing on Ice season 2 DVD
*Blade Runner 5 disc edition
*Pirateology book
*Meat Loaf with the Melbourne symphony orchestra DVD
*Woodstock DVD
*Heroes season 1 DVD
*Labyrinth/The Dark Crystal DVD
*Alpha Dog DVD (Justin Timberlake, I know, but apparently it's good)
*Guinness Book of World Records (Nan gets it for me every year)
*Some clothes
*$150 (and a gift card of Dad's he swapped for cash) which was spent today on Amy Winehouse's 2 cds, the Hairspray soundtrack, Arrested Development season 2 and a pair of polka dot Converse sneakers.

Also, shopping today? REALLY STUPID. So hot at Miranda Fair and so crowded. Heh, and Dad searched every store for another Wii remote. Silly man. Told him to get another one before Christmas! EVERYONE was sold out. So Drew and I can't play against each other yet. The Wii is his, of course, but we can share! Sometimes.

And now, meme time! Coz I can. )

Wow, that last one was hard. So yeah, Merry Whatever once more and I hope everyone got whatever they desired.

*SOB*

Dec. 19th, 2007 06:20 pm
So I got my HSC results a couple hours ago... Behind here )

So yeah. YAY!
Why getting a job was a good thing (and maybe to show off a little...). Pictures kinda big, by the way.

Shiny, happy, new toys )

Now I have to go to bed so I'm all awake and stuff for that job that got me these awesome things. Thank GOD, it's a 3 hour shift. Way better than 4. Love it. Hate Christmas period already. Boo.
That was interesting. We fluked onto some ice skating again - ESPN is being very kind - and just saw Sinead and John Kerr skate. They're the British champions right now... Anyone see Blades of Glory? The Queen routine at the end? To Flash Gordon? That's what they reminded me of. XD Their routine was to a medley from Enigma and they were aliens. XD I love ice dance. Really. It's so fucking funny. But seriously, they were actually quite good. It was a really different routine for a change. Apparently they came 5th, but oh well! Getting there! They just have to clean it up technically and they'll be good contenders for an Olympic medal. First British one since 1984. They need to step it up, then! Britain's the closest we get to winning in the Winter Olympics. Them and Canada. And Canada is more likely to win.

Oh yeah, and something I forgot to mention before... I bought a new computer. My old one was threatening to die so I thought I'd better do something before it crapped out and while the prices were good before Christmas. It's pretty awesome, so yeah. Only I'm kinda broke now. *sigh*
So we had stock take at work, tonight. That was... tiring. A lot. And counting is a lot harder than I remember. I lost count of how many times I lost count. My hands and arms are scraped up, too. But hey, 5 hours and I didn't have to talk to a single customer. Heh. Awesome. Well, okay, two came and asked for help looking for something, but STILL. IT WAS A NICE CHANGE. We got pizza out of it, too, so not bad at all. And that's an extra 5 hours pay this week. Awesome again.

Sadly, nothing else has been happening here. It's pretty boring. [livejournal.com profile] twilight_mash is in Queensland, without the internet so... bored. With nothing to do. At least she comes back on Thursday. I guess I could like, clean and read or something. I really should clean actually. It's... not pretty here. And that's just my room. Ugh. I'll do that tomorrow. Finally. I keep putting it off... I've been down to see my Nan a couple times. She's STILL without a knee joint, so when my uncles are at work, Mum has to take her dinner and that. We hang out till one of them gets home, too. It's a nice distraction, though. Not that long until the replacement for the... replacement goes in! She really can't wait. She hates not being able to get herself around.

Ugh, we have to vote this coming Saturday. Federal election to decide the new Prime Minister. PLEASE GOD LET THERE BE A CHANGE, I CAN STAND THE BULLSHIT ANYMORE. I'm just gonna hide in my room all night that night, too, so I don't have to put up with them dragging the results out. I can't bear it.

Heh, I just realised there was something kinda important I should have mentioned... I finally finished the HSC. My last exam was on the 9th of November. Trust me, I was more excited then. Well, once I caught up on sleep I was. Now, I'm just relieved and trying to figure out what to do next year. I'm thinking about learning a language but not sure which yet. Decisions, decisons.

Mum and I are watching figure skating now. Yay! I'm gonna have to stay up later than I wanted but oh well. I'm sure I'll cope! Such a happy little surprise there! *happy*
So, Mum and I are watching Skate America right now (woooo, being behind the rest of the world ROCKS)...

CARMEN. SERIOUSLY. WTF?! Why, Miki Ando, why? Only EVERY SKATER EVER has used this music. Really. Wiki 'Battle of the Carmens'. I have a video of Natalia Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin skating it on Russian Dancing on Ice from last year. Almost the exact same cut of the music, too.

NO MORE CARMEN. It's not even like Bolero, which is ruined by perfection for everyone else (and thank god for that). IT'S BEEN DONE.

*headdesk* Someone skated to Carmina Burana, too. There is other music, people!

*sigh* Oh, skating. Why do you hurt me so?
I'm still holding out for this not being right... I haven't read the article but Aly told me, so I know she's not doing this to hurt me but... Mary Murphy looks like she's going to be the new judge on Dancing on Ice next year. WE ARE PRAYING FOR A TYPO, PEOPLE. EVEN JUST UTTER LIES. THIS IS SO BAD.

Why, those people who don't watch So You Think You Can Dance might be asking? THIS is why. I already had to deal with that on SYTYCD! I CAN'T HANDLE IT FOR 10 WEEKS WITH MY SHINY CRACK. I thought my day was shitty before. Coworkers acting like I'm an incompetent moron (just because you've wasted like 4 years there; not even a damn manager, either), I can deal with. This is just painful. Talk about having something to cry about.

I miss Natalia. :( I knew there'd only be a small chance she'd come back, what with the flying back and forth between Russia every week. But this just rubs salt in the wound.

PLEASE BE WRONG. *cry*

(That look on Karen's face in my icon? Get used to it, people.)
So! I'm kinda sick! *sob* I have a mild cold, but thankfully it never got really bad so I'm feeling better. It came on right after my last English exam. I came home, went for a swim, then BOOM! Nose was sore and stuffy. God damn irony. I should have known I was sick. My neck was sore for like a week before I did any hardcore studying and I was so tired. Stupid hints! But meh, only missed one day of work (and a dinner type thing for us winning a service award :(). I was really kinda disappointed I couldn't go to the dinner, but oh, what a headache when I woke up. My sinuses were all stuffed up and yeah, headache. At least it went once I took a cold tablet, but still felt shitty. Better apologise for not showing up tomorrow.

Anyway! We went to see Linkin Park on Saturday, too. SO good! I was SO deaf when we left. Hell, I was deaf after the opening act! Mmm, Chris Cornell. Why you so hot? Even from half way up the nosebleed section, he was pretty. Also, those seats? Weren't shitty at all! So happy. Chris Cornell played a few old Soundgarden songs, some Audio Slave ones and some new ones. It was a really good set. Linkin Park also puts on a pretty awesome show. The set was pretty and they played an awesome mix of all three albums. Poor little Chester broke his hand in Melbourne before but, you know, show must go on. Which is bloody should because it's only a broke hand and he's the SINGER. So yeah. Although, I didn't find the Torvill and Dean bar (damn it to hell), I DID see a signed picture of them... from six feet away. *palmface* I recognised them from six feet away in an A4 sized photo. By the costume. If that's not a sad level of fangirling, I don't know what is.

Only other thing that's been happening is the exams. So glad English is over. I didn't quite finish either of them (there were two), but I did write a lot so fingers crossed it was enough. Not so confident in the first one now. It was okay... but yeah. I'm happier with the second one. I'm just at the point where I want it over. Haaaaaaaate exams. Haaaaaaaaaaate HSC. Just have art in the 9th of November then yep! All over! So glad.

Right, I'm gonna finish watching Heroes and maybe write some fic. You know, if the power doesn't go out. We're kinda having a storm right now. Yay, fun!
I fell on my arse twice, so you know, the hurting is understandable. Yas, Drew and I went skating on Sunday! I... yeah, fell about 7 times. So every thing from the knee up hurts! I'm awesome like that. But Drew and I were kinda getting by the end! It was pretty fun really. And so glad when one of the officials came over when I fell the first time. She told us how to properly skate and omg so much easier. So definitely taking a lesson next time. Also, Dad didn't exactly HELP every time we went past. "Let go of the barrier!" "Go free skate!" NO, YOU PSYCHOPATH. I swear to God, he thought everyone else had just SHOWED UP that day for the first time, too. Never mind the fact that most of them had probably been skating for years. Jesus. Kept distracting me so I fell on my arse. Next time, I swear to God, I'll just take the train. I don't care if it'll take over an hour. Really don't care.

Of course, then something crawled up his ass and died and he was in a shit mood Monday and today. Bastard. Kept picking crap fights with Mum, no yelling, but Mum was getting high pitched on the phone and I got woken up after FIVE HOURS SLEEP. Ugh. That fucking sucked. And I couldn't get back to sleep. So yeah. Shitty wake up.

ANYWAY. I'm kind of looking forward to going skating again. Aside from the falling, of course, but even then, wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm just amazed I could stand in the damn skates. I walked and everything too! I was amazed. Especially amazed by the fact I got out on the ice with so many people. I almost had a panic attack when I realised just how many people when I got home. I couldn't believe it. I think I was stunned for most of the night I had the balls to even do it, with my knees and all. I'm so proud of myself!

So yeah, I'm gonna finish watching Dancing with the Stars and nurse my wounds, because I have to work tomorrow. Studying would probably be a good idea at some point too. I suppose.

*ded*

Sep. 19th, 2007 08:24 pm
OH THANK GOD, IT WAS JUST THE CORD. SO GOD DAMN RELIEVED. *dies* Now I can save up for a better laptop. And hope my tax stuff gets sorted soon. THAT WOULD BE NICE.

Things I forgot to mention: Last Saturday, Aly and I did indeed go to the Russian Resurrection Film festival. Of course, Dad and I managed to end up at the wrong end of Oxford Street so I had to walk up a huge hill in my high heel boots. THAT BLEW SO HARD. But the movie was awesome. And pretty tame for an R rated movie. Pretty much just rated for the violence, and in true, awesome Russian style it was so over the top anyone can handle it. We saw Wolfhound and it was indeed kickass. I loved it! There were some unintentionally funny bits, but that just made it better. So good omg.

I'm gonna go read fic now (Aly wrote, y'all! Fucking miracle!) and go to bed early, because I'm tired and should make an attempt on some school work in the morning. Possibly.
So, without any fucking warning, my laptop cord decided to fuck up yesterday and today, it's completely dead! YAY. So, this means I'm either going to have to cough up a hundred or so dollars for a new cord or $800 plus for a new laptop. I know which one I'd prefer! But the battery is shitty enough for me to almost wish it was the laptop. WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE FUCKED UP IN A COUPLE MORE MONTHS WHEN I HAD MORE MONEY? I won't be able to get one with the hard drive space I wanted now. This fucking blows and Drew is shit with sharing so now Mum reckons we get an hour each then switch and that FUCKING SUCKS.

I don't even know how quick I'll even be able to fix/buy a new one, so this could go on for weeks. I hate everything. At least I got the stupid mp3/video player working. Although, now I'm thinking I should have saved that birthday money a bit longer so I could get a better computer. Damn it.

This fucking sucks! I had a day off and everything today, and I just feel shittier. I'm just going back to bed after my "turn" is up.
You know, I told myself I wouldn't but like this is the first time my willpower has failed.

Oh Britney.

You know, when people talk about the death of their childhood, I always figured that was exaggeration and you know, just a joke. I tell ya, after watching that painful performance at the VMAs (painful in and of themselves, so thank you Defamer), I'm really starting to feel it. Seriously, I loved Britney, even though she built up unrealistic ideas of high school with that first video. I feel so bad now. And when Christina Aguilera is the only one of that pop music group to NOT be an embarrassment now... well, something is strange right there.

Sometimes I wish I had stronger willpower. Other times, I go watch ice skating and each chocolate that kills my teeth. This is one of the latter times. *sigh*
So. TAFE again today. Couldn't get to English because Mum felt horrible (and I was fucking tired anyway) so I caught up with my teacher afterwards because I had to come for art and got my trial marks. 22/30, BABY! I'm 4th in the class. Holy shit, right? Couldn't believe it. Especially after I screwed up the Shakespeare question. That was a horrible question, man. So that was awesome!

I had to go to art because we were packing our artworks today. THANK GOD. Took a couple hours but it's done and all that's left is for them to be picked up next Tuesday, I think? Or Wednesday. I'm not sure. EITHER WAY, THAT'S IT. IT'S ALL OVER AND OUT OF OUR HANDS. *weeps with happiness*

In other news, Aly and I are thinking about going to see something at this at some point before it closes. As soon as I get my work schedule for next week, we'll have a plan! I'm oddly excited and don't care what I see. YAY CULTURE!

I better wrap it up because Dad'll probably be here soon. YAY NO MORE MAJOR WORK!

EDIT: Knew I forgot something after all that: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] kimbari!!
Exams are OVER! WOOHOO! Well, okay till October BUT I DON'T CARE. I HAVE FREE TIME FOR A BIT. So very happy. If only my writing muse would come back. That'd rock. I can manage a couple sentences but other than that it's REALLY ANNOYING.

Had to work today (which draaaaaaaaagged) but I saw the Simpson's movie last night! It was a lot more clever than I expected. You had to be paying attention for the gags. It was quite surprising and I think I even saw character development! Quite enjoyed it! Heh, one of Ralph's lines at the beginning nearly made me choke... Man, so random. XD

I watched Ice Princess today too (shut up) because I love me some Disney. And Disney + ice skating = ooooh! Except... I don't know. Genuinely torn. I don't know if I like it or what. Some of it was really, really realistic. But then some of it also made me a little angry. And Michelle Tratchenberg's character was a total flaming Sue. That also ticked me off. I think it could have been the trivialisation of the shit and time and training that REALLY goes into competitive skating. Hell, any sport! Just because she can add a couple formulas together. *rolls eyes* No, it doesn't work that way. So yeah, annoyed yet also freaked out by the realism. Torn. But there is still NO WAY Kim Catrall's character would have won at Sarajevo in 84, disqualification, or not.

Also, $600 bucks for skates. In this country, it was $500 at the most for top of the line competitive skates. Well, on one site. BUT STILL. Thanks for the heart attack, movie. $600 is a lot of hours standing for me...

Anyway! No schoolwork needing to be done! FUCKING AWESOME. I'm gonna go think about the Simpson's movie some more. And try to write.

I long for a realistic, good skating movie. And no, not Ice Castles.

Oh yeah.

Aug. 31st, 2007 01:45 am
So, I forgot to mention this when I did it but... I FINISHED MY MAJOR WORK OF ART FINALLY!!!! WOOHOO!!

SO HAPPY OMG. I didn't think I'd have too much of a reaction when I finished it but... it was like a weight had been lifted. Such relief. I think it looks pretty good, too! Dunno how it'll be marked, but I don't care. I like it and that's what matters. Mum even reckons mine was better than some of the other people in my art class - my art teacher put on a little exhibit for everyone, so Mum could compare. Which is flattering, but I can't help being unconvinced. Bias on her part, self-deprecation on mine, I don't know. Some of the other works seem so much more well done, technically at least, but yeah, maybe they are weak in other areas. I think I got my concept across. God willing. But hell, even Dad said he liked it, though he didn't read it. That's practically a miracle for Mr. "It's not art unless it's a painting that looks like a photograph".

But yeah, it's over and I have 11 pages and a gorgeous photocopy booklet to grab my marks for me. So send good vibes! Please! *puppy eyes*

YAY IT'S OVER! And just have one more trial exam to get through, and that's done too! I need a break.

Oh, and to finish that damn work? Had to pull an all nighter. Finished it just before 10am on Friday, 24th of August. Ugh, that was about as much fun as a hole in the head. But needed to be done so Jay could copy it. AT LEAST IT WAS DONE BEFORE THE DUE DATE. Probably a first for me.

And now, to bed. So I can do a little more reading before my exam tomorrow. Reading sucks sometimes.
Priscilla. Last night. SO GOOD. Seriously, that was such an awesome show. It translated really well between screen and stage and it was hilarious. Even the jokes I'd heard hundreds of times in the movie were just as funny as the first time. Once again, spent more money than I maybe should have but you know... shiny stuff. I bought a singlet, shirt and a magnet for my Nan. They're listed on here, in current -> Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, if anyone wants to see. I had to buy the singlet. It has part of my favourite line from the movie on it: "A cock in a frock on a rock". XD Mum won't let me wear it in public but I DON'T CARE. I got the "I Will Survive" shirt, too. So good! So much pink merch!

Anyway, the audience went off so much when we saw Michael Caton was performing tonight. He's been in a tonne of Aussie stuff, so I was really hoping we got to see him. We did! We got the full cast. So much of the awesome. Heh, Aly and I dodged a bullet because at the beginning of Act 2 the cast gets people from the audience up on stage to do a barn dance... and they grabbed a couple from the row in front of us. I totally would have done it! You know, if I hadn't have been wearing my big, lace up to the knee boots... because I would have fallen on my face, otherwise. So lucky there!

But yeah, it was pretty awesome. Aly palmed off her Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe DVD on me, so yay! AND bought be a t-shirt from thinkgeek.com. YAY FOR ME! *happy*

*sigh* Right, back to writing my speech now. Hate English... but at least it's the last assignment, aside from my major art work... WANT IT OVER.
