Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Or Bah Humbug! if you'd prefer. I had a perfectly pleasant Christmas. No major arguments, only saw part of the family and spread over two days. Thank God for small miracles.
The haul this year included:
*The Essential Paul Simon cd
*Best of Chris Isaak cd
*Wizard of Oz 3 disc collectors edition
*Dancing on Ice tour DVD
*Dancing on Ice season 2 DVD
*Blade Runner 5 disc edition
*Pirateology book
*Meat Loaf with the Melbourne symphony orchestra DVD
*Woodstock DVD
*Heroes season 1 DVD
*Labyrinth/The Dark Crystal DVD
*Alpha Dog DVD (Justin Timberlake, I know, but apparently it's good)
*Guinness Book of World Records (Nan gets it for me every year)
*Some clothes
*$150 (and a gift card of Dad's he swapped for cash) which was spent today on Amy Winehouse's 2 cds, the Hairspray soundtrack, Arrested Development season 2 and a pair of polka dot Converse sneakers.
Also, shopping today? REALLY STUPID. So hot at Miranda Fair and so crowded. Heh, and Dad searched every store for another Wii remote. Silly man. Told him to get another one before Christmas! EVERYONE was sold out. So Drew and I can't play against each other yet. The Wii is his, of course, but we can share! Sometimes.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Ice skated. It was nerve wracking and awesome fun. It'll probably be mentioned a few times...
2. Did you keep your New Years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I... have absolutely no idea. And probably! I want to get better at skating and start dancing again. I really want to keep these ones.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not close, but someone I went to school with did.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, but not close. Someone I went to school with again... I don't want to talk about it.
5. What countries did you visit?
America! I want to travel more next year, but I don't like the chances. Next few years, though...
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Patience, I think.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
January 20th - came home from America.
January 21st - got horrible news...
May 28th - started first ever job.
December 19th - got final HSC results ever.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing high school FINALLY. And maybe overcoming my fear and going skating for the first time.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Man, I don't know... I don't think there was one single big failure. Can't think of anything. Maybe procrastinating as long as I did on my major work of art? But that didn't get marked too badly (we think) so I can't complain.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A couple of colds I could have done without... and falling on my ass - twice - at skating and bruising my tailbone. I couldn't bend down for weeks.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Two things, actually. My laptop and ice skates. So shiny and awesome.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Hmm... my brother's maybe? He quietly and seemingly happily went along with the whole skating thing and actually seems to be enjoying it now. Victory for me!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Hmm... probably the Australian government's in the lead up to the election. This was probably the dirtiest one yet. Seriously. Fire them all and start again.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Ugh, Christmas. And heh, my laptop. Oops.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Skating! I was so nervous the first two times but now I can't wait to go again. And Dancing on Ice. What do you mean, that's sad?
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Uh... hee, honestly? Gonna have to say Ravel's Bolero. That'll make perfect sense to Aly.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
If not the same, happier. I checked my bank balance today... so knowing I have a fair bit in there made me feel better. Not just the having money thing, but knowing I have a little independence.
ii. thinner or fatter? The same! My weight doesn't fluctuate much and I have to watch it for the sake of my knees.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer! And God, it feels good.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Slept regularly. My sleeping was all over the place. Such is the life of a night owl and shift worker.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinated.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
At home and visiting family. Though, that's past tense now...
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Not with a person. I love skating. So much.
23. How many one night stands?
Pfffft, HA! That's funny.
24. What was your favorite TV program(s)?
Dancing on Ice! Woo!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hmm. No, I don't think so. I try to stick to dislike, anyway. Hate's kinda strong...
26. What was the best book you read?
Man, I didn't read many books that weren't assigned for school, and those are never as enjoyable as they could be. Heh, maybe the Penny Arcade volumes.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Um... Rockapella. Though, I don't have as much of their music as I'd like.
28. What did you want and got?
To finish school and find something I enjoy doing for myself.
29. What did you want and not get?
Travel some more.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Blades of Glory! Oh God, so good. I love it.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
Nothing, because it was on a Thursday. Went down my Nan's, I think. Heh, and got a call saying "You're supposed to be at work!" Except, no, because I was also at TAFE and I didn't work Thursdays. Seriously, screwed up rosters.
32. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
Maybe going out with people more... even a guy. And starting skating sooner so I had more than two lessons before the holidays!
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Comfortable and stylish, if I was going out. Still with the comfort. Jeans and sneakers were popular!
34. What kept you sane?
RPF. Sad, but true. Aly and I like playing God with reality. It's fun.
35. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Like this will be a surprise, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. With a little Christian Bale thrown in.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Work Choices. Suddenly became important when I got a job and joined a union.
37. Who did you miss?
Rachel. Uni is way too busy. :(
38. Who was the best new person you met?
thansunshine and her family. Must email soon!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
People are entitled fuckers but one nice comment and thank you can make your day.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I didn't think about this until now... You Held The World In Your Arms - Idlewild.
Every face
Even the one you saw yesterday
It looks different today
Cos everything's changed since yesterday
In every possible way
Things seem different today
Not like yesterday
Is consideration
More like an acception - of consideration?
Cos you have the world in your arms tonight
And what if you held the world in your arms?
When you're secure, do you feel much safer?
As days never change, and it's three years later
It's like your life hasn't changed,
And it's three years late
So how does it feel, to be three years late?
And watching your youth drift away
What seems different, seems different today
And what seems different, seems different today
Is consideration
More like an exception - of consideration?
Cos you have the world in your arms tonight
And what if you held the world in your arms?
You have the world in your arms tonight
And what if you held the world in your arms?
(tonight...) (tonight...)
Cos you have the world in your arms tonight
And what if you held the world in your arms?
Cos you have the world in your arms tonight
And what if you held the world in your arms?
For everything that stayed the same as before, for everything that changed and for rewriting history. XD
Wow, that last one was hard. So yeah, Merry Whatever once more and I hope everyone got whatever they desired.
